Abstract

In the current global era, world developments are getting more advanced, especially the influence of these advances in the world of education. Because sometimes education is a benchmark for whether a country is advanced or not with the knowledge of its young people. The author researched by using questionnaire data to the children of Pondok Qur'an Alfa Salam, an educational institution that will be the author's research objective. The data shows that children aged 8-9 years are still interested in illustrated books. Sowith that, the author will design an illustrated book to increase the interest in learning the children of Pondok Qur'an Alfa Salam. The illustrated book tellsabout the profile of Islamic scientists to foster children's interest in understanding the journey of scientists in Islam. The characters in this book include Ibn Sina as a scientist in the field of medicine, Al-Khwarizmi who is known as the father of Al-gebra (father of mathematics), Al-Battani who is famous in the field of Astronomy, Ibn Khaldun as a scientist and historian who the last one is Al-jazari who is known as a scientist who made robots. This writing uses mixed methods using qualitative and quantitative methods. Qualitative methods with data collection techniques interview children, teachers, parents of students, observation, and documentation. Meanwhile, data analysis uses data reduction, data presentation and conclusion verification. For the quantitative method, namely by means of students filling out a questionnaire or questionnaire.
