ANALISIS KEBUTUHAN AREA LAHAN PARKIR DI LINGKUNGAN SMKN 1 GUNUNGGURUH

This research is motivated by the parking space limitation issue at SMKN 1 Gunungguruh, Sukabumi Regency. With a total of 1,464 students, most of whom use motorcycles as their primary mode of transportation, the existing parking facilities are no longer sufficient. As a result, some students are forced to park along the school’s main roadway, disrupting vehicle circulation, reducing comfort, and creating potential traffic hazards.
The objective of this study is to analyze parking characteristics, including volume, accumulation, duration, turnover, capacity, parking index, and occupancy, as well as to calculate the ideal parking space requirements within the school environment. The research method employed primary data collection through field observations of vehicle movements in and out of the parking area, combined with secondary data such as student population and existing parking lot size. The analysis applied a quantitative approach using the parking space unit (SRP) standard issued by the Directorate General of Land Transportation.
The results indicate that the maximum parking accumulation reached 367 motorcycles with a daily volume of 10,517 vehicles. The calculated parking space requirement (KRP) amounted to 404 SRP, while the existing static capacity was only 300 SRP with an approximate area of 450 m². Therefore, the current capacity does not meet the actual demand. The study recommends reorganizing the existing parking layout and utilizing vacant land within the school area to increase parking capacity, ensuring a more orderly, safe, and standardized parking system..
