Abstract

Access to clean water is a fundamental necessity for human survival, yet it remains a significant challenge for many communities. Cidadap Village, located in Sukabumi Regency, is a prime example of this struggle. The village's extensive area and steadily increasing population have put immense pressure on its water resources. Making matters worse, the primary water source, the Cibuni River spring, has seen a substantial decrease in its water flow over the past several years. A recent analysis confirms that Cidadap Village is on a collision course with a major clean water deficit. Population projections for Hamlet II of Cidadap show that by 2035, the number of residents will swell to an estimated 14,229. To meet the needs of this growing population, a clean water supply of approximately (2.221 m³/s) will be required.. While this number might seem sufficient, the study concludes that it will be unable to meet the community’s water demands by 2035. The existing supply simply won't be enough to sustain the population's growth. The findings are clear: the current water infrastructure in Cidadap Village is not sustainable. To prevent a future water crisis, the planning and construction of a new clean water network are absolutely essential. This new system is critical to ensure that all residents of Cidadap Village have a reliable and sufficient supply of clean water not only in 2035 but for years to come.
