Abstract

Road damage is one of the major problems that affect service quality, comfort, and road user safety. The Lengkong – Cijaksa road section with a total length of 18 km is an important route that is currently experiencing various pavement damages.
This study aims to identify the types of damage, determine the dominant damage, and provide appropriate treatment recommendations based on the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) method. The survey was conducted on a 2.5 km segment through visual observation and pavement condition analysis. The results show that the types of damage found include potholes, weathering/raveling, alligator cracking, edge cracking, patching and utility cut patching, as well as longitudinal and transverse cracking. The total damaged area was recorded at 750,46 m2 with an average PCI value of 37,00, categorized as poor. The most dominant damage was potholes with a total area of 301,32 m2. The most severe damages were observed at STA 0+100 (PCI value of 5) and STA 0+700 (PCI value of 6), along with several other STA segments with PCI values < 50, indicating severely deteriorated conditions. Based on the analysis, the recommended treatments include rehabilitation or reconstruction for segments with PCI values < 50, and
routine/periodic maintenance or overlay for segments with PCI values > 50. The redesign calculation using the Bina Marga method indicated the required thickness of the new flexible pavement layers: surface course of 7.5 cm, base course of 20 cm, and subbase course of 27 cm. These recommendations are expected to restore road function and improve the service quality of the Lengkong–Cijaksa road section optimally.
