Abstract

The decline in egg consumption among early childhood populations has become a concerning issue in supporting optimal growth and development. Despite being an accessible source of high-quality animal protein, eggs are often rejected by
children due to a lack of appealing information and limited understanding of their nutritional value. This situation highlights the need for educational media that can communicate such messages in a way that is engaging, imaginative, and age-
appropriate. In response to this issue, the author designed an illustrated book titled The Magical Egg Adventure as an interactive and child-friendly educational tool. The design process adopted a design thinking approach, integrating cognitive development theories by Piaget, multimedia learning principles by Mayer, and Dewey’s progressive learning philosophy. The result is a visual storybook featuring imaginative egg characters, narrative exploration, and simple games aimed at increasing children's curiosity and motivation to learn. This media is expected to serve as a creative learning alternative that subtly introduces nutrition literacy and fosters positive associations with eggs.
