Abstract
This study aims to analyze the effect of inflation, interest rates, rupiah exchange rates, and leverage on profitability (Return on Assets/ROA) in banking companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the period 2019–2023. The background of this study is driven by the dynamics of the fluctuating macro economy and the complexity of financial management in the banking sector, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. The research design used is a causal quantitative approach using secondary data. The population in this study were 47 banking companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. The sample in this study was 30 banking companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange based on the purposive sampling method. This study uses multiple linear regression analysis using Statistical Product and Service Solution (SPSS) software version 22. The results of the study show (1). Inflation has a negative and insignificant effect on profitability (ROA), (2). The interest rate has a positive and insignificant effect on profitability (ROA), (3) The rupiah exchange rate has a positive and insignificant effect on profitability (ROA), and (4). Leverage has a positive and significant effect on the profitability (ROA) of banking companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2019-2023.
