Abstract

"There is a need for innovations that are both useful and economical for small and medium-sized automotive repair businesses (UMKM) in the area. Therefore, I designed this tool using a fairly simple method: tool design, tool manufacturing, tool testing, data analysis, calibration, and data reanalysis. The purpose of creating this tool is to help these small repair businesses, which often lack proper inspection equipment. This tool is also designed to measure the stiffness of a spring valve, making it easier for mechanics to work. The results of the user satisfaction survey showed a satisfaction rate of 91.51%, based on seven questions and feedback from three different respondents. From a cost perspective, the tool is much more economical, with the price reduced from IDR 26,800,000 to IDR 1,010,000. However, the tool lacks accuracy based on the revision and error calculation. The spring valve test data shows a significant difference when compared to the newly designed tool, with a difference from 28.3 N/mm to 25.605 N/mm, resulting in a relative error of 9.522%.A good measuring tool typically has a low error percentage, depending on its usage context. For highly precise measurements, such as those in laboratories, an error of less than 1% is considered ideal. However, in industrial applications, the acceptable error range can be between 1% and 5%.
