Abstract
Waste management in the campus environment is becoming increasingly important in the context of realizing environmental sustainability. With increasing awareness of environmental issues, sustainable waste management based on Green Building is the main focus in efforts to minimize negative impacts and improve environmental welfare. This study aims to analyze waste generation and waste management practices in the campus environment of Nusa Putra University using a sustainable waste management approach. The research method used is qualitative descriptive analysis, involving field observations, interviews and documentation studies. The results of the analysis showed that the weight of waste generation reached 16,778,592 Kg/year and the volume of waste generation was 296,092.8 liters/year. Campus waste has an influence of 0.024% on waste generation in Sukabumi City and in the next 5 years the amount of weight and volume of waste generation will increase by 10%-15% every year. In addition, the Nusa Putra University campus has not implemented various initiatives to improve waste management in a sustainable manner, including waste reduction, separation and recycling programs, so there are still several challenges that need to be overcome, such as lack of awareness and participation of the campus community and limited infrastructure. In conclusion, waste management in the campus environment needs to continue to be improved through a sustainable management approach based on Green Building so that it is necessary to involve all stakeholders. Collaborative efforts are needed between campus management, students, staffff and external parties. In addition, it must increase the awareness of the campus community, it is necessary to improve infrastructure and develop policies that support sustainable waste management in the future.
