Abstract

As the population increases, the volume of domestic wastewater produced also increases, giving rise to environmental problems. Disposing of waste directly into rivers without processing can cause environmental pollution and cause disease. Building a Communal Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) is one effective solution. Communal IPAL is a wastewater treatment system used to treat domestic liquid waste from a group of households. This research aims to design an effective and efficient Communal IPAL design in Cibitung Village, Sukabumi Regency using Anaero Upflow Filter technology, as well as estimating the costs required for its construction. Descriptive research with a qualitative approach was used as part of the research work steps. Data was collected by conducting field observations and literature studies. The results of this research show that the planned WWTP unit with the Anaero Upflow Filter method is typical for every 6 to 10 people consisting of a settling tank, 3 compartment and 1 outlet tank. With the planned budget required for the construction of 17 AUF units in Cibitung Village, namely IDR. 148,370,000. Based on the results of an interview survey with 34 respondents or local communities, it was concluded that the community is very supportive of the IPAL planning program in their area, but they refuse to pay monthly fees for the management of the WWTP. It is recommended for future researchers to choose a location by taking into account the wishes of the community and also the encouragement of relevant agencies regarding the construction of an WWTP in the planning area.
