Abstract
Good road conditions will facilitate population mobility in economic relations and other social activities. Therefore, it is necessary to maintain good condition with maintenance according to road conditions. So it is necessary to know the condition of the road, especially the South Ring Road section of Sukabumi Segment 1 on flexible pavement. This study aims to determine the type of damage that occurs in the pavement layer and assess the condition of the road pavement with the parameters of the Surface Distress Index (SDI) and Present Serviceability Index (PSI) methods.
Data collection was carried out by means of a road surface damage survey as the initial data then calculated based on predetermined formulas. The scoring system using the SDI method has 4 elements that can be used, namely the proportion of crack area, average crack width, number of holes, and average rutting depth of ruts. While the PSI method calculates the area of road damage and road patches.
The types of damage found on the South Ring Road section include crocodile skin cracks, longitudinal cracks, transverse cracks, patches, holes, pavement edge defects and grooves. The results of the analysis of road conditions at the level of damage to the road surface show that the value of the SDI method has an average value of 82 which is included in the value range of 50-100 for moderate road conditions. Meanwhile, from the results of the research on pavement conditions using the PSI method, a value of 2.36 was obtained, which is in the range of 2 – 3 for Fair conditions.
