Abstract
Reading is an everyday activity that aims to obtain information, knowledge, add insight, and develop thinking skills for inspiration and discovery of new ideas. Reading ability is still very low, although everyone has realized that reading ability is very important from the growth stage, because without reading knowledge will not be easily obtained. The low ability to read is evidence that the learning process carried out by students in the field of education does not develop students' interest in reading. This study aims to determine the reading comprehension skills of second grade students at SDN Sawahlega before and after implementing fun literacy. Fun literacy or games in the form of literacy to increase students' understanding in the learning process. This type of research is classroom action research (CAR) with a naturalistic approach and is not conducted to test hypotheses. The research design uses the Kurt Lewin Model, each step consists of four stages, namely planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting using 2 cycles. The subjects of this study were 31 second grade students at SDN Sawahlega. The research instruments used were tests, non-tests and documentation. Data processing techniques include observation, testing and recording. The form of the test used is the pre test and post test. The validity test in this study uses content and construct validity. The expected results in this study are the application of fun literacy can be a solution regarding the low ability of students' understanding to experience improvements or changes during the learning process. Based on the results of research with SDN Sawahlega II class students, it can be concluded that students' reading comprehension skills before implementing fun literacy reached 40% of the 31 students who did not understand the contents of their reading. Therefore, students' reading comprehension is classified as weak and is included in the class C predicate (sufficient). the difficulty faced by students in understanding the contents of the reading is that they cannot concentrate on understanding the content to be read so they still need explanations from the teacher based on their reading comprehension. The ability to read comprehension after implementing fun literacy increases student achievement as shown by the increase in student activity in the learning process as shown by the results of observations during class activities. The average score of students achieved after completing the final test from Cycle I to Cycle II using fun literacy increased from 79.6 in Cycle I to 89.6 from the ideal achieved which was
100. The completeness of class II students at SDN Sawahlegan also increased, from 76.7% in Cycle I to 90% in Cycle II the mastery of students with repeated classical.
