Abstract

Bullying is an act of intentionally hurting one or more people because they feel superior to other people who are considered weaker, and it is carried out continuously. Bullying poses negative effects that can affect the development of a person's social and emotional attitude. The study went from one of the problems of a 12 years old primary school student to the victim of a school bully of four young boys her age. As a result, the victims suffered pain from areas of their body and even fainted, and the victims were traumatized. The study has two objectives: to know the impact bullying has on the development of students' social attitudes, as well as on their emotional changes. The study is designed by a qualitative approach with a descriptive model, and it uses case study design. The subjects selected as many as 15 students were determined through an purposive sampling technique. Data collection is done through observation techniques, questionnaire ingers, interviews, and documentation studies. Research instruments were tested first using the validity of content and construct. Data analysis techniques run through the data reduction stage, data presentation, drawing conclusions and verification. The validity of data on this study was tested using source data and method triangulation. The results showed that all subjects had experienced or seen friends around them experiencing bullying. Most of the subjects stated that bullying was done by friends at school. More than half of the subjects became reluctant to socialize and preferred to be alone after experiencing bullying, also feeling afraid and threatened. Based on the acquisition of these data, it can be concluded that most elementary school students have experienced or seen acts of bullying at school.
