Abstract
Soil retaining walls are one of the important elements in the field of civil engineering that are used to maintain slope stability, prevent landslides, and protect road infrastructure from damage. Geographical and climatic conditions in Indonesia, which are prone to landslides due to high rainfall, demand strong and effective planning of soil retaining walls. This study aims to evaluate the design of cantilever concrete type soil retaining walls using the Plaxis 2D application on the Sukabumi Road (Baros) – Sagaranten Km.BDG 101+145 section which has a fairly high risk of landslides. The analysis was carried out through two methods, namely manual calculation based on soil stability theory and numerical analysis using the element method to use Plaxis. The parameters analyzed include stability to rolling force, shear force, and ground carrying capacity, taking into account average daily traffic data (LHR) as an additional load (surcharge). The results of the study show that the planned 6.5-meter high soil retaining wall is able to withstand the lateral pressure of the soil and the additional load of traffic. The safety factors resulting from manual calculations and Plaxis analysis are above the minimum standard required by SNI 8460:2017, which is more than 2.0 for shear and roll stability, and more than 3 for soil carrying capacity. Analysis with Plaxis also showed that the deformation was still within reasonable limits, so the structure was declared safe to use. Thus, the cantilever concrete type has proven to be effective and efficient to be applied at research sites and can be a reference in the design of soil retaining walls under similar conditions.
