Abstract

The intersection of Jl. Sukabumi–Cisaat and Jl. Veteran is an unsignalized intersection that experiences high traffic density, especially during rush hour. This study aims to analyze and improve intersection performance using the 2023 Indonesian Road Capacity Guidelines (PKJI) and VISSIM software simulation. Based on the analysis of existing conditions using PKJI 2023 on Monday at 07.00–
08.00 WIB, the degree of saturation (DJ) reached 0.89, and the intersection delay was 15.41 seconds/pcu. VISSIM simulation showed an average delay of 32.22 seconds. Alternative I, which involves widening the road, resulted in improvements with the DJ decreasing to 0.81 and the delay to 13.59 seconds/pcu. Alternative II, which involves developing an unsignalized intersection into a signalized intersection, obtained a DJ of 0.94 and a delay of 83.80 seconds/pcu. The VISSIM simulation results for alternative II show a delay of 76.26 seconds/smp. Meanwhile, Alternative III, which is a combination of road widening and APILL implementation, provides the most optimal results with a DJ of 0.77, a delay of
21.48 seconds/smp, and. The VISSIM simulation results for Alternative III show a delay of 29.94 seconds/smp. Therefore, developing an unsignalized intersection into a signalized intersection is concluded to be a recommendation to improve traffic performance in the area.
