Abstract
This study analyzes the bearing capacity of pile foundations for a residential construction project in Sukabumi City. Cone penetration test (CPT) data from three locations (S-1, S-2, and S-3) reveal soil layer variations ranging from soft clay to dense sand at depths between 6 and 8.60 meters, which significantly influence the foundation capacity. The bearing capacity of single piles was evaluated using the empirical methods of Meyerhof and Aoki De Alencar, while group pile foundations were assessed using the Converse–Labarre approach. Results indicate that the Meyerhof method yields higher allowable capacities (20.53–77.05 tons) compared to Aoki De Alencar (16.38–47.28 tons). For a configuration of two piles with a diameter of 25 cm, the Meyerhof approach produced a group capacity of 56.50–
60.86 tons with an efficiency factor of 0.898, which is considered safe against the design load of 22.40 tons. In contrast, the Aoki De Alencar method for the same configuration resulted in a more conservative capacity. Based on these findings, a pile diameter of 25 cm with two piles in a group configuration is recommended as the optimal solution to ensure stability, safety, and efficiency in accordance with SNI 8460:2017.
