Abstract
Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTPs) play a vital role in maintaining environmental sustainability, especially in hospital environments that produce complex liquid waste. Therefore, this study aims to identify the WWTP capacity requirements in the next 10 years at Karawang Heart Hospital and to analyze the suitability of the existing WWTP capacity with applicable standards at Karawang Heart Hospital. This study uses a quantitative descriptive approach, which includes data collection, analysis, and conclusion of the research results. The existing planned capacity at the hospital is 556.18 m3. Comparative analysis between the existing capacity of Karawang Heart Hospital Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) with the minimum standard based on SNI 6774:2008 shows that each existing processing unit has a volume greater than the minimum requirements, the difference in the neutralization tank is 23.54 m3, the equalization tank is 17.72 m3, the aeration tank is 62.59 m3, the sedimentation tank is 25.40 m3, the deafoming tank is 17.16 m3, the chlorination tank is 14.83 m3, the intermediate tank is 18.19 m3, the clarifier tank is 3.75 m3. The 10-year projection of growth in the number of users of Karawang Heart Hospital services with an annual growth assumption of 5%, the wastewater discharge is estimated to increase significantly from 262 m³/day in 2026 to 427 m³/day in 2035, long-term planning is needed for the WWTP capacity that considers the projected growth in the number of users and waste discharge for the next 10 years.
