Abstract
The South Dayeuhluhur Ring Road is one of the main roads in Dayeuhluhur District, equipped with U-Turn facilities to accommodate traffic from both directions. This study aims to evaluate the performance of the U-Turn based on queue length, delay time, and degree of saturation in accordance with the 2023 Indonesian Road Capacity Guidelines (PKJI). Observations were conducted over three days during peak hours (morning, midday, and evening) from the east direction, and one day from the west direction as a comparison. Data were collected through direct observation and video recording, and vehicle volumes were converted into passenger car units (PCU).The analysis shows that the highest traffic volume was 895.2 PCU/hour, with the degree of saturation in the east direction ranging from 0.37 to 0.49, while the west direction recorded only 0.09. The maximum vehicle queue length from the east reached 48 meters, whereas the west direction was relatively short at approximately 3 meters. The average vehicle delay in the east direction was 10.6 seconds for SM (LOS B), 19.2 seconds for MP (LOS B), and 24–25 seconds for KS and BB (LOS C). Conditions in the west direction showed similar delay values, but with significantly lower traffic volumes. Traffic conflicts occurred mainly in the east direction, marked by a reduction of up to 58% in main stream speed due to U-Turn maneuvers. Overall, the U-Turn service level falls within LOS B–C, indicating that it still functions well, although technical improvements in the east direction are recommended to reduce queue length, delay, and potential traffic conflicts.
