Abstract
The Warungkiara–Ciangsana Road in Sukabumi Regency plays a strategic role as a connector between industrial zones and tourist destinations but is vulnerable to traffic accidents due to extreme road geometry, insufficient signage, and inadequate lighting. This study is urgently conducted as a preventive effort to identify potential accident-prone points (blackspots) along the Warungkiara–Ciangsana Road in order to reduce future risks. The research aims to identify accident-prone areas (blacksites) and accident-prone points (blackspots), as well as analyze the contributing factors to support traffic safety improvements. A quantitative approach was employed using the Z-Score method to determine blacksites and the Cusum (Cumulative Summary) method to identify blackspots. Secondary data were obtained from the Sukabumi Police Traffic Unit for the period 2023–2025. The analysis results indicate that Segment 1 falls into the high accident-prone category with a Z-Score value of 2.44. Furthermore, STA 4 in Segment 1 was identified as a blackspot with a Cusum value of 6.75. The main contributing factors to accidents include substandard road geometry, particularly a steep incline at STA 4 with an 8.18% slope, exceeding the maximum limit of 5% according to the 2021 Road Geometric Design Guidelines, as well as inadequate road lighting and insufficient traffic signage. Recommendations to minimize accidents include road geometric improvements, particularly on steep inclines, the addition of road lighting facilities at critical points, and the installation of traffic signs in accordance with standards. These findings provide an important empirical basis for planning traffic accident mitigation and improving safety infrastructure.
