Abstract
Advances in automotive technology are driving innovation to improve the performance of automatic motorcycles. One critical system influencing engine performance is the Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT), which transmits power from the engine to the wheels through a pulley and belt mechanism. Automatic motorcycles often experience less than optimal power response due to an inappropriate primary sliding sheave angle configuration. This study aims to determine the effect of varying the primary sliding sheave angle on the performance of the 2015 ESP K59 motorcycle. The research method was conducted experimentally by modifying the tilt angle from 15° (standard) to 14.5°, 14°, and 13.5°. Testing used a dyno test to measure torque (N.m) and power (kW). The results showed that varying the tilt angle significantly affected engine performance. The 13.5° angle produced the highest torque of 12.11 N.m and 2.5185 kW of power, while the standard 15° angle only produced 12.7 N.m of torque and 1.8255 kW of power. It can be concluded that reducing the primary sliding sheave's tilt angle increases acceleration and engine power. The results of this study are expected to serve as a reference in optimizing CVT transmission systems to achieve more efficient and responsive motorcycle performance.
