Abstract

The industrial development in Sukabumi Regency, particularly around the PT. Glostar Indonesia (GSI) factory, has significantly impacted traffic volume along the Cikembar Highway segment from KM 07 to KM 10. The high frequency of vehicle movements, especially during shift changes and logistics activities, leads to traffic congestion during peak hours. This study aims to evaluate the performance of this road segment using the 2023 Indonesian Highway Capacity Manual (PKJI 2023). The research method involves field surveys including road geometric measurements, traffic volume counts, and side friction observations. The analysis covers road capacity, degree of saturation (DS), free-flow speed, and Level of Service (LOS). The results show that on working days (Monday), the DS reaches 0.98, categorized as LOS E (very congested), while on non-working days (Sunday), the DS is 0.77 with LOS D (moderately congested). Technical recommendations to improve traffic performance include reducing side friction, prohibiting roadside parking, and providing pedestrian crossings and employee shuttle services. Although side friction reduction can lower the DS to 0.75 (LOS C), road widening is not feasible due to space limitations. This research is expected to provide input for local government traffic planning and industrial area management.
