Abstract

The Yamaha Nmax is one of the motorcycles that is often modified with racing exhausts. However, the impact of racing exhaust modifications on exhaust emissions and noise levels can cause motorcycles to fail to comply with applicable regulations. This study used an experimental method with dependent variables of exhaust emissions (CO, HC) and noise levels (dB). The fuel used was Pertamax Turbo. The results of testing the standard exhaust system met the emission and noise limits permitted by government regulations. CO emissions were 0.19%, HC emissions were 861 (ppm), and noise levels were 72.6 (dB). Conversely, racing exhaust systems did not meet the standards, with CO emissions of 0.40% and HC emissions of 1716 (ppm), and noise levels of 95.9 (dB), far exceeding the permitted limits. Therefore, the standard exhaust system is more environmentally friendly and compliant with regulations, while the racing exhaust system does not meet these criteria.
