Abstract

This research designs and implements an automatic feeding system for guppy fish based on the Mamdani fuzzy logic method, with a turbidity sensor as the main indicator of water quality. The hardware consists of an ESP32, an RTC DS3231 for scheduling, a servo motor as the feed actuator, a buzzer as a condition alarm, and Telegram integration for notifications. Calibration of the turbidity sensor against a reference device, namely a turbidimeter, was carried out using four water samples with different turbidity levels at 7, 22, 45, and 85–95 NTU. From the calibration process, an average error of 2.99 percent was obtained, showing good accuracy in mapping the sensor voltage to NTU units. The NTU values obtained from the readings were then processed by the fuzzy system, namely fuzzification, inference, and defuzzification. This classified water conditions into High 0.0213 gram for clear, Medium 0.0143 gram for slightly clear, Low 0.0070 gram for cloudy, and Delayed or Reserve 0.0070 gram for very cloudy. The system was tested on 8 male guppies; the buzzer was active as a warning when the condition was very cloudy and feeding was delayed. The results show that the system consistently operates according to the design, maintaining water quality under control while ensuring that feeding takes place on schedule and in measured amounts.
