Abstract
Video games have come a long way since they were first created, growing from simple graphics into a huge industry that entertains millions of people. Today, video games are more than just fun. They can be used for storytelling, education, and even social connections. However, when teenagers play too much, they can become addicted, affecting their daily lives, school performance, and relationships. In the worst cases, video game addiction can cause problems between teenagers and their parents, leading to arguments and emotional distance. This study, "Final Level": A Photographic Visual Novel Game for Educating the Impact of Game Addiction on Teenagers’ Relationships with Their Parents, aims to help teenagers understand the risks of video game addiction and how it can affect their family relationships.
To do this, the study uses a linear photography visual novel, which is a type of story- based game that combines real-life photos with storytelling and sound. The visual novel was created by collecting data on video game addiction in the Cicurug area, taking live-action photos using a digital camera, studying other visual novels for inspiration, and writing a meaningful story. By blending pictures, words, and sounds, this project creates an engaging and easy-to-understand way for teenagers to learn about the effects of video game addiction.
The story follows a teenager who is addicted to video games and struggles to connect with their parents. It shows their daily life, how their addiction affects them, and how they eventually work to overcome it. By telling a realistic and relatable story, this project hopes to make teenagers more aware of the dangers of too much gaming and encourage them to maintain a healthy balance in their lives.
