Abstract
The Consumer Dispute Resolution Agency, hereinafter referred to as BPSK, basically has a functional role to be able to provide protection, supervision and legal certainty for consumers and business actors by paying attention to the rights and obligations of each party who is racing against the Consumer Protection Law, hereinafter referred to as UUPK. BPSK was established by the government in each region and city/district, based on the decision of the Governor of West Java, the Consumer Dispute Resolution Agency which is often known by the abbreviation BPSK was formed in the Sukabumi City Area. The focus of this study and research is how effective the role of the Consumer Dispute Resolution Agency in protecting consumer rights in Sukabumi City. This study uses a type of juridical-empirical research using qualitative data. Based on the results of the study, it shows that the lack of effectiveness of the institution is caused by several factors. In creating an effectiveness in the institution, it certainly requires the role of several parties, apart from the optimization efforts of the institution, there must also be awareness and sensitivity to the law from the community.
