Abstract

Academic stress often occurs in final year students, it is in the form of pressures that can interfere with the mental health of students. Academic stress experienced by final year students can have a significant impact on various aspects of life, including physical health, mental health, and academic performance. Evidenced in the findings in the field with several research informants, namely final students who mentioned that at the final level students feel stress and burden on their academics. This study aims to analyse the factors that cause academic stress in final year students at Nusa Putra University. This research uses a quantitative approach with a confirmatory method. The population in this study were all final year students at Nusa Putra University with a sample of 10 students in each study programme at Nusa Putra University. This study used a research instrument in the form of a questionnaire, and was analysed using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). The results showed that the KMO value was 0.808 and the Bartlett's value on the chi-square value was 187.753. The value on MSA for each variable includes: Self-efficacy with a value of 0.751, Motivation of 0.767, Optimism of 0.463, Social support of 0.484, Procrastination of 0.823, Student relationship with social environment of 0.852, Personal factors of 0.790, Academic factors of 0.816, and Environmental factors of 0.822. The results of the 9 variables above are 7 variables that can be analysed further, because there are 2 variables that are less than 0.5. This research is expected to provide solutions that can be implemented by the University in the form of increasing social support and developing stress management and self-efficacy training programmes. Recommendations for the University are that it needs to support students by training stress management and providing comfortable study spaces, in addition to healthy lifestyle programmes are also important to reduce academic stress and support student well-being.
