Abstract

Fathers are one of the most important people in children's development, this is because fathers are one of the closest people to children and become role models for children. In fact, father's involvement in childcare is lacking and the responsibility of caring for children is often delegated to mothers, so that children do not feel the role of fathers. The absence of the father's role leads to the vulnerability of children involved in social problems. In a study that children who experienced father absence were involved in substance abuse, mood disorders, and involved in serious delinquency or criminal acts. This research uses a case study method. The subjects in this study were 3 (Three) elementary school-aged children who lived in the Legok Nyenang Community. The results of this study indicate that the role of fathers has an influence on children's emotional intelligence and behaviour, it can be seen from the three research subjects that have been studied, children who have lost their fathers completely have low emotional intelligence and lack of social relationships and low learning motivation.
