ANALISIS YURIDIS MAHKAMAH PIDANA INTERNASIONAL (INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL COURT) TERKAIT KASUS SURAT PERINTAH PENANGKAPAN VLADIMIR PUTIN

The International Criminal Court (ICC) is a permanent and independent international judicial institution established under the Rome Statute of 1998. Its primary objective is to prosecute individuals who commit serious violations of international humanitarian law, including war crimes. In 2023, the ICC issued an arrest warrant against Russian President Vladimir Putin in response to allegations of war crimes related to the transfer of children from Ukraine to Russia during the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict that began in 2022. This thesis explores the ICC's authority to issue arrest warrants against Putin and the implementation of such arrests. The study employs a normative juridical research method, analyzing legal literature, international criminal law regulations, international agreements, customary international law, and general principles of law. The research aims to assess the ICC's role and function in impartially enforcing justice globally and to identify the limitations of the ICC in prosecuting war crimes based on principles of international law and the Rome Statute.
