Abstract

In Building B of Nusa Putra University, the water used for daily purposes is groundwater. The increase in the number of students at Nusa Putra University will lead to high demand for water resources. Therefore, this research aims to plan the amount of rainwater that can be collected as an alternative water source and design a rainwater storage tank for Building B of Nusa Putra University. This research uses a quantitative descriptive method, which includes collecting data and then analyzing and concluding the research results. The number of active students and staff is 1671 and 130 people per day respectively and the garden area is 267.82 m2. So good water use management is needed so that the water needs of building B and the surrounding park are met. The rainfall data used is data from the Ciraden rainfall post by looking at rainfall data for the last 10 years. Based on the research, the amount of rainwater that can be accommodated in Building B of Nusa Putra University is 1144.82 m3 with a tank capacity of 300 m3. This rainwater tank capacity can meet the water needs of toilets and landscaping by 23% each month. The 300 m3 rainwater tank is designed using red bricks with a length of 15 m, width of 5 m and height of 4 m.
