Abstract
The unsignalled triple intersection at Sukabumi - Cisaat Road and Cibaraja Road often experiences traffic problems. At these intersections, traffic conflicts often occur due to the irregular intersection of traffic flows and are located in commercial areas (hospitals, shops and trade). There are no curbs and sidewalks on the road area, so the road and road area directly adjacent to the hospital building and shops are often used as parking spaces. Then, the activity of getting on and off passengers from public transport that stops, pedestrians who often cross the road, as well as activities beside the road such as transporting goods, irregular crossing of people can cause traffic problems. In addition, the road capacity at the intersection still accommodates but the volume of vehicles is approaching the capacity of the intersection, causing queues and delays on each arm of the intersection. Based on the description of the problems above, research was conducted to analyse the performance of the intersection and find alternative solutions to overcome these problems. The data collection method used in this study is a direct survey method to the field which includes a survey of geometric conditions, a survey of intersection traffic volume and a survey of intersection environmental conditions. For data analysis, this research uses the Indonesian road capacity guidelines (PKJI) 2023 method on Intersection Capacity and APILL Intersection Capacity. The results obtained in the calculation of the intersection capacity performance based on the degree saturation value of 0.922, the DJ value exceeds the value recommended by PKJI 2023 for intersection capacity (unsignalled intersection) which is ≤ 0.85. Therefore, it is necessary to analyse alternative planning or solutions to solve problems and reduce traffic conflicts that occur at the intersection. Some alternative solutions carried out in this study are expanding the dimensions of the road or the size of the road body and the development of an unsignalled intersection into a signalised intersection. Comparison of intersection performance from the application of alternative I and alternative II, namely alternative I is more effective because the intersection performance increases and the degree of saturation (DJ) value does not exceed 0.85 so that planning is acceptable.
