Abstract

The aim of this research is to analyze how the red brick factory in Cicantayan Village, Sukabumi Regency, affects air quality and noise levels. This factory is very active and produces pollution and noise in its surroundings. In several strategic locations, air quality measurements around the brick manufacturing factory in Cicantayan Village are classified as good, with low concentrations of pollutants such as SO2, O3 and TSP and no negative impact. However, the concentration of NO2 pollutant is classified in the medium category which has no effect on human or animal health but has an effect on sensitive plants and aesthetic value. Meanwhile, the concentration of CO pollutant is classified as unhealthy, which is detrimental to humans or sensitive animal groups or can cause damage to plants or aesthetic values. However, the resulting noise level was 74 dBA, this exceeds the quality standard for noise levels of 70 dBA set by Decree of the Minister of Environment No. 48 of 1996 concerning noise level standards for trade and service environmental areas. This research provides a comprehensive picture of the environmental impacts of red brick factories and suggests ways to better manage the environment. Suggestions include better management at the factory, greening, use of cleaner technology, and more oversight and regulation from authorities.
