Abstract
This research aims to analyze the comparison of the use of three types of sand as fine aggregate on the compressive strength value of concrete, namely Cimangkok Sand, Jebrod Sand, and Pelabuhan Ratu Sand. Sand is an important component in the concrete mixture which affects the strength, durability and structural performance of concrete. This research was conducted to determine the effect of the characteristics of each type of sand on the compressive strength of concrete, which is one of the main parameters in assessing concrete quality. This research methodology includes several main stages: testing the physical and mechanical characteristics of each type of sand, making a concrete mixture using each type of sand as fine aggregate, and testing the compressive strength of the concrete at 28 days. The physical characteristics of the sand tested include grain size distribution, silt content, and water content. Meanwhile, the mechanical characteristics tested include specific gravity. The concrete mixture is made with the same mixture ratio for all types of sand so that the results obtained can be compared fairly. The test results show that there are significant differences in the compressive strength values of the concrete produced by the three types of sand. Concrete using Cimangkok Sand showed the highest compressive strength value (208,298 kg/cm²), followed by Port Ratu Sand concrete with a concrete compressive strength value (172,565kg/cm²), and finally concrete using Jebrog Sand with a concrete compressive strength value (165,592 kg/cm²). This difference can be caused by variations in grain size, silt content, and mechanical properties of each type of sand. This research also revealed that sand with a more uniform grain size distribution and lower mud content tends to produce concrete with higher compressive strength.
