Abstract
The existence of Indonesian culture is starting to be forgotten among society, especially the younger generation, due to the influence of globalization. The art of musical art, which is one of the branches of traditional Indonesian musical arts, is starting to become less popular as music develops and undergoes modernization with various variations. Efforts to increase attitudes of love of culture in facing the current challenges of globalization can be done through culture-based education, one of which is presenting cultural extracurriculars in schools. This research aims to determine the implementation, material studied and the impact of musical arts extracurricular activities on instilling an attitude of love for culture in elementary school students. This research approach uses qualitative with a case study method. Determining the subjects was carried out using a purposive sampling technique consisting of the class teacher as a facilitator for developing students' interests and talents, a tutor who understands the extracurricular learning process for musical arts, and 9 students participating in extracurricular musical arts, 2 of whom were taken as informants for interviews. The results of the research show that the extracurricular implementation of musical arts is carried out routinely twice every week, namely on Mondays and Thursdays with 9 students and 1 tutor as participants. The material studied in musical lessons is a type of musical composition in which students play gamelan to produce instrumentals that are used as accompaniment to various performances including traditional student farewell ceremonies, dances, and rampak drums. The musical arts extracurricular has an impact on cultivating the character of love of culture in students, shown by students in accordance with the indicators of cultural love, and the musical arts extracurricular has also become a school success in providing learning about the history of musical, gamelan instruments, and knowledge of how to play gamelan instruments.
