Abstract
For a child, the family is the first non-formal educational institution, so it evolves, and every family has its own experiences in living its life. Trigger factors for the development of students' social and emotional attitudes include family issues. Family problems are interpersonal behaviors expressed through behaviors that occur within the family, such as economic problems, social problems, and cultural differences. The development of social and emotional attitudes is their sensitivity to living and experiencing a child's understanding of other people's feelings in interactions in daily life. Thus, children are encouraged to have sensitivity to the environment. This study aims to examine the impact of family problems on the development of students' social and emotional attitudes. This approach uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Subject determination is determined by the Purposive Sampling technique consisting of 3 students. The research findings found, among other things, that basically the family plays a major role in fostering and developing children's potential, but when the family does not perform its functions properly, especially in families with problems such as economic problems, seen from parents' income, secondly social problems, seen from parental divorce and thirdly cultural differences, namely language differences within the family. The impact of these family problems affects the development of students' social and emotional attitudes. The impact of social attitudes is such as dishonesty, irresponsibility, lack of discipline, while the impact of emotional attitudes is such as inability to control one's emotions such as being stubborn, rebellious, and often venting anger towards others. Then, the students are unable to fulfill their obligations at school or at home, such as in school students are unable to follow the learning process well and often cause disturbances in class. Thus, it can be said that family problems have an impact on the development of students' social and emotional attitudes.
