Abstract
This research is motivated by the problem of students who have difficulty reading (dyslexia) and are slow learners. The aim of this research is to understand the causal factors, strategies for dealing with dyslexia and slow learner, as well as finding solutions to overcome dyslexia and slow learner in class IV-A students at SD Negeri 3 Nagrak. This research uses a qualitative approach with the type of method used, namely case studies. This research was carried out at SD Negeri 3 Nagrak, while determining the research subjects used a purposive sampling technique where the researcher chose subjects based on certain considerations, namely 3 students out of 5 students who had dyslexia and were slow learners, 1 class IV-A teacher, and 2 students The parents of the students who represented the 5 parents of students who were identified as having dyslexia were the resource persons because they were considered to know and understand the social situations that the researchers needed the most. Data collection techniques in this research used observation, questionnaires, interviews and documentation. The instruments used in this research include observation sheets, questionnaires and interview sheets. The data validity technique in this research is using technical triangulation and source triangulation. The data analysis technique used in this research is the Miles and Huberman data analysis model, namely Data Reduction, Data Presentation, and Drawing Conclusions. The results of this research found that three of the five students selected as research subjects showed characteristics that were closer to the symptoms of dyslexia and slow learners. Lack of adequate development of reading skills as well as low cognitive readiness and limitations in language processing also make it difficult for them to understand instructions or explanations delivered, especially orally. The conclusion obtained is that a holistic and coordinated approach between teachers, parents and the learning environment is very important to overcome children who experience dyslexia and are slow learners.
