ANALISIS PESAN SIMBOLIK PADA FILM BUDI PEKERTI DENGAN PENDEKATAN SEMIOTIKA

The film “Budi Pekerti” by Wregas Bhanuteja highlights the impact of viral phenomena on social media and is the focus of this research, which aims to uncover symbolic messages using Roland Barthes' semiotic approach. Employing a qualitative research method and analyzing mise en scène elements such as setting, costumes, lighting, shot types, and angle camera, this study explores both denotative and connotative meanings, as well as Barthes' myths and codes within the film. The research reveals that the film not only reflects Javanese culture but also illustrates how media can influence and alter cultural values, particularly through the character of Bu Prani and the controversial “Refleksi” method that became viral. This analysis exposes the power of media to distort traditional values and create social instability, offering deeper insights into the symbolic meaning of the film and how media impacts public opinion and social norms. It is hoped that this study will enrich viewers' and scholars' understanding of the hidden meanings within the film and the role of media in shaping social perceptions.
