Abstract

Gravity walls are retaining walls made of reinforced concrete or masonry. A bit of concrete reinforcement is sometimes added to the surface of the wall to prevent cracking of the surface of the wall due to temperature changes in the gravity type retaining wall. In design, there should be no tensile stress on each section of the body. After carrying out a design analysis on the existing design there are results showing that the existing gravity retaining wall does not meet the requirements where the shear stability is 0.145 less than 1.5 , overturning stability shows 0.933 more than 1.5 , and stability of soil bearing capacity shows 0.277 less than 3. After getting the results of the existing design value, the researcher re- analyzed the retaining wall. Based on the formulation of the problem and analysis of the stability of the retaining wall at Citra Sentul Raya Housing, the following conclusions can be drawn: After analysis of the existing retaining wall, the results of the calculation of the retaining wall do not meet the requirements where the shear and overturn Sf value (safety factor) ) 0.145 ≤ 1.5, 0.933 ≤ 1.5, and the Sf value of soil carrying capacity (safety factor) 0.277 ≤ 3. The causes of sliding in the existing retaining wall are shear stability, overturning stability and soil carrying capacity. The existing retaining wall does not meet the requirements.
After re-calculation, the retaining wall of a combination of reinforced concrete and stone masonry does not meet the requirements to hold the soil with the dimensions of a foundation length of 4.50 m, a foundation width of 1.00 m, and a wall height of 5.00 m. Analysis of the stability of the retaining wall combination of reinforced concrete and stone masonry against overturning obtained a final value of 0.145 ≤ 1.5 (unsafe), and for overturning stability obtained a final value of 0.933 ≤ 1.5 (unsafe). Stability analysis of the failure of the soil bearing capacity that occurred obtained the final value of 0.277 ≤ 3 (unsafe), so it does not meet Sf shear, Sf overturns and Sf soil bearing capacity. After analyzing and redesigning the retaining wall 2-4 calculations did not find a value that corresponds to the existing soil conditions, in the 4th calculation with the dimensions of the foundation length 8.30 m, foundation width 1.20 m, wall height 6.20 m , obtained value of sf shear 7.258 ≥ 1.5 , sf overturn 7.458 ≥ 1.5 , soil bearing capacity sf 0.066 ≤ 3 , from 2-4 times the calculation experiments on ix retaining walls the value that does not meet the requirements is the soil bearing capacity. So it can be concluded that the carrying capacity of the soil at that location does not meet the requirements for a retaining wall.
