Abstract

The unsatisfactory motivation to learn mathematics in class II students, especially
in addition and subtraction lessons (standard length units) became the background
for this research. The use of boring and ineffective learning techniques is the cause
of students’ lack of motivation to learn. Therefore, the use of the STAD type
cooperative learning model is a solution that can be used for second grade
elementary school students. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect
of the STAD type cooperative learning model on increasing the learning motivation
of class II students in learning addition and subtraction in mathematics. The
approach used is quantitative and quasi-experimental methods. The population
consisted of all students of SDN Tugu and SDN 1 Kalaparea, the sample consisted
of 35 students of class II SDN Tugu as the experimental class and 29 students of
class II SDN 1 Kalaparea as the control class. Class. These students were selected
using a purposive sampling technique. Tests, questionnaires, observation, and
documentation are data collection techniques. While the techniques for analyzing
data used validity tests, reliability tests, normality tests, homogeneity tests, and T
tests. Based on the results of the research that had been carried out, it was
concluded that there was an effect of using the STAD type cooperative learning
model in increasing motivation to learn mathematics in addition and subtraction
of length units. Raw. It can be seen from the analysis of the data obtained sig. (2-
tailed) of 0.0001 less than 0.05 means the probability value is sig. (2-tailed) < 0.05.
