Abstract

Manual prototyping consumes a lot of time, raw materials, and is inaccurate. The solution for making prototypes to be fast and detailed is a 3D printer. Research on 3D printers by previous researchers still has shortcomings regarding the
accuracy of product dimensions, and stringing occurs. This research on the design of an arduino-based Cartesian model FDM 3D printer was carried out to produce a sturdy 3D printer frame, good accuracy, and overcome stringing. The method used is design, where the 3D printer machine is designed and built, then tested for performance. The 3D printer design has dimensions of 434 x 470 x 610 mm with a
working area of 220 x 220 x 233 mm. The frame was simulated with FEA with a safety factor of 15 ul. The 3D printer control uses Arduino Mega 2560 for its operation. The 3D printer performance test results have successfully eliminated stringing with X-axis product accuracy of 99.98%, Y-axis 99.97%, and Z-axis
99.93%.
