Abstract

Modelling and Optimization Containers Dwell-Time in Tanjung Perak Port Indonesia
The container queue problem is an issue often found in container ports. This issue
adversely impacts the distribution system in ports such as container delivery delays,
increased costs, and even reduced consumer satisfaction levels. In this study, the
problem of queuing discussed is the container dwell time. Dwell time is the time the
container takes from dismantled (or unloading) then placed in the field of buildup (or
cargodoring) until it leaves the port through the main gate (distribution).
The average
Dwell time container is in the port of Tanjung Perak in 2012 for 6.2 days. Dwell time containers in the port of Tanjung Perak occur due to several factors especially by the insufficient administrative process.
Research in this thesis uses the Heuristic Algorithm method. Researchers use this method in order to provide good results in the optimization of container dwell time. In researching about container dwell time, researchers examine each stage in the dwell time process, ranging from unloaded containers (or reloading), laid out in the field of buildup (or cargodoring), distribution and even administrative processes. The thing that
researchers studied was the cause of the dwell time, modeled the process, and proposed a solution to the problem.
The results of the study were models of the container dwell time and the optimization solution of the container dwell time. The results of this study can reduce the container's dwell time from 6.2 days to 3 days, because the 3-day dwell time is a category of unloading the international standard. This result is a contributing contribution to the
world of education in the problems that occur in ports especially the port of Tanjung Perak.
